From Sheki to the Airport

Distance
290 km
Driving time
4h 10m

Four hours and ten for 290 km — the longest run to the terminal we do; the road is on the Baku to Sheki page. The sum is unforgiving: three hours before an international departure plus four and a quarter of road is seven and a half hours committed, which for a morning flight means leaving Sheki in the middle of the night.

For anything before mid-afternoon, a night in Baku is usually the better answer, and we would rather say so than sell you a two o'clock start with a flight at the end of it. The city is on the way, the hotel costs less than the risk, and you reach the airport rested. The bus and the train both serve this corridor but neither ends at the terminal, and the train's station is well outside Sheki to begin with. On request, because a car that stayed with you and one sent 290 km to fetch you are different journeys.

What each car costs on this road

Prices are per car, not per seat — which is why four people usually pay less each than four bus tickets plus the taxi at the far end. There is no separate one-way rate: a day trip comes back the same day, and if the car stays with you longer, the nights are added on the booking form.

What the price covers

  • The whole car, whether there are two of you or six
  • Collection at your address, not at a station
  • Fuel, road tolls and parking — nothing added at the end
  • A price agreed before you set off, with no meter running

Frequently asked questions

What time do we need to leave Sheki?
Count seven and a half hours back from departure: four and a quarter of road, three at the airport, and a margin. A ten o'clock flight means leaving before three in the morning.
Should we go the night before instead?
For a morning or midday flight, almost certainly. A night in Baku removes the night drive and the risk, and usually costs less than what a missed flight would.
Do the bus or train work for this?
Neither ends at the airport, and the train station is a distance from Sheki before you start. With a plane at the other end they add changes exactly where you cannot afford one.
Why is the price on request?
Four and a quarter hours is long enough that the return shape matters: a car that drove out with you, one that waited, and one sent from Baku are three different jobs.
