Getting Back to Baku from Absheron

Distance
35 km
Driving time
40 min

Thirty-five kilometres, forty minutes, and the shortest return on the site; the peninsula itself is described on the Baku to Absheron page. Coming back is rarely a booking of its own — Absheron is a day made of several stops, and the car that carried you between them takes you home at the end of it. If that is your day, book the hours rather than this leg.

Where it is a genuine one-way is the built-up side. The metro and city buses serve Qala and Mardakan, so if you are coming back from there with nothing heavier than a bag, public transport does it cheaply. From a beach or the fire sites it stops being simple: those sit apart from the network, and the walk to the nearest useful stop is the part nobody plans for. Quoted on request, because a forty-minute leg costs one thing on its own and another as the tail of a day.

What each car costs on this road

Prices are per car, not per seat — which is why four people usually pay less each than four bus tickets plus the taxi at the far end. There is no separate one-way rate: a day trip comes back the same day, and if the car stays with you longer, the nights are added on the booking form.

What the price covers

  • The whole car, whether there are two of you or six
  • Collection at your address, not at a station
  • Fuel, road tolls and parking — nothing added at the end
  • A price agreed before you set off, with no meter running

Frequently asked questions

How long is Absheron to Baku?
About forty minutes for 35 km, less from the airport side of the peninsula. Nothing out there is more than an hour from the city.
Can I get back on the metro?
From Qala and Mardakan, yes — the built-up side is on the network. From a beach or the fire sites it is a walk to the nearest useful stop first, which is the part that catches people out.
Should we book this separately?
Usually not. Most Absheron days are a car for several hours with the return already in them; booking the hours is simpler and normally cheaper than a one-way at the end.
Why is the price on request?
Because forty minutes on its own and forty minutes as the tail of a six-hour day are different bookings. Tell us which it is and we will price it.
