The road is the one you came in on — 225 km, about three hours fifteen, and the Baku to Gabala page describes it properly. What changes on the way back is the arithmetic. Hotel checkout is usually eleven and the useful departure is often later, so the question is where your bags sit in between; most places will hold them, and a driver collecting at four in the afternoon is the normal shape rather than the exception.

For a flight, work backwards. Three hours at Heydar Aliyev for an international departure, half an hour from the city to the terminal, and three and a quarter from Gabala: a late-evening flight means leaving Gabala in the early afternoon, and a morning flight means the night before in Baku. The bus runs this direction too, but the last useful departure is earlier than people expect and it ends at a terminal, not at your hotel or the airport. The car is quoted on request because a return is priced by whether it came out with you or is being sent for you — those are different journeys and one number cannot cover both.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Gabala to Baku take?
About three hours fifteen for 225 km, the same road in reverse. Traffic entering Baku in the evening can add twenty minutes, which is worth knowing if you are heading for a flight.
What time should we leave for an evening flight?
Count back: three hours at the airport, half an hour from the city, three and a quarter from Gabala. For anything after eight in the evening that means leaving Gabala around midday.
Can the driver collect us after checkout?
Yes, and it is the usual arrangement. Most hotels will hold luggage between an eleven o'clock checkout and an afternoon pickup — tell us the time you want rather than the time you have to be out.
Why is the return priced on request?
Because a car that drove out with you and a car sent from Baku to fetch you are two different journeys. Tell us which one it is and we will price it.
