How to Get from Baku to Naftalan

320 km west and a little over four hours, and the only destination on this list that people travel to for a medical reason. Naftalan's industry is one thing: baths in the heavy crude that comes out of the ground here, prescribed by the sanatoria since Soviet times and still drawing visitors from across the region.

Public transport gets you close but not to a sanatorium door. Buses run west towards Ganja, which is the nearest city of any size, and from there it is a local arrangement to cover the last stretch — awkward at the start of a course with luggage for ten days. A car with a driver is quoted on request, because a course runs ten days or more and a same-day return here is close to meaningless: book the outbound and either give us the collection date or leave it open. Ganja and Naftalan are often combined — say so and the driver takes the Ganja road rather than the direct one. The Baku to Ganja leg is priced separately if you would rather have them as two moves.

How long is the drive to Naftalan?
A little over four hours for 320 km, west on good road. It is one of the longest journeys we run, and almost nobody does it there and back in a day.
Can I get there by bus?
As far as Ganja, yes — that is the nearest city with real services. The last stretch to Naftalan is a local arrangement, which is the part that is awkward with a fortnight of luggage.
Why is the price on request?
Because the return is the question. A course lasts ten days or more, so what we are really pricing is whether the driver comes back for you and when. Tell us the shape and we will quote it.
Can Naftalan and Ganja be combined?
Easily — they are close, and the driver takes the Ganja road rather than the direct one if you say so when booking. The two legs can also be priced separately if you would rather keep them apart.
