185 km and a little under three hours: the northern highway to Quba, then the purpose-built road up to the resort. The climb and the season are on the Baku to Shahdag page. Going straight there from the terminal saves crossing Baku, and the driver meets you inside arrivals with your name and the flight already tracked.

The last hour is the part to think about. It is a mountain road, unlit, and after a night flight it is the stretch where being tired stops being an inconvenience. In winter it wants clearance and can close outright — we check before your date and say so. The alternative is a night in Baku and a daytime run, which on this route is worth more than usual: you arrive able to ski the next morning rather than sleeping through it. There is no scheduled service to the resort in either case.

What each car costs on this road

Prices are per car, not per seat — which is why four people usually pay less each than four bus tickets plus the taxi at the far end. There is no separate one-way rate: a day trip comes back the same day, and if the car stays with you longer, the nights are added on the booking form.

What the price covers

  • The whole car, whether there are two of you or six
  • Collection at your address, not at a station
  • Fuel, road tolls and parking — nothing added at the end
  • A price agreed before you set off, with no meter running

Frequently asked questions

How long is the airport to Shahdag?
A little under three hours for 185 km. The first two hours are fast highway; the last is the climb to the resort.
Is it wise straight after a night flight?
It is the one we most often advise against. The final hour is an unlit mountain road, and arriving at three with ski luggage is not the start of a holiday. A night in Baku usually costs less than the day you lose.
What about winter conditions?
The mountain road wants clearance and occasionally closes in snow. We check before your date rather than on the morning, and if it is shut we tell you before you book flights around it.
Is there any bus to the resort?
None, from the airport or anywhere else. Buses reach Quba; the climb from there has no scheduled service at all, which is the whole reason this route exists.
