What a Week in Azerbaijan Costs in 2026: a Budget Built from Official Prices

Leave out the hotel and the meals, and a week in Azerbaijan comes to about ₼137, ₼213 or ₼275 per person, depending on how you travel. Every figure is taken from the operator that sets it, with the source and the date we read it.

Leave out the hotel and the meals, and a week in Azerbaijan costs one traveller about ₼137 done entirely on public transport, about ₼213 with three of our day trips, and about ₼275 with our three-day group route through the regions. Each total is the sum of prices published by whoever runs the thing itself — the metro, the bus terminal, the railway, the museums and reserves — plus our own fares exactly as the booking form charges them. Every number below names its source and the day we read it.

Accommodation and food stay out of the totals on purpose. They swing with your taste far more than with the country, and any figure we put on them would be a guess. Our money guide deals with cards, cash and the price of everyday things; this page is the fixed part of the trip, the part you can add up before you leave.

Some things a table cannot hold. Citizens of Azerbaijan and children pay less at the heritage sites: a foreign child aged 5–17 pays ₼9 at the Maiden Tower and ₼12 at the Shirvanshahs Palace, children under six enter the Heydar Aliyev Center free, and its Classic Car exhibition is a separate ₼10 ticket. Bus fares are given as a range because each departure is priced a little differently. Gobustan has no current official price list online — tickets are sold at the entrance and through iTicket — so we kept it out of the sums instead of borrowing a figure from elsewhere.

The e-visa fee appears on evisa.gov.az while you fill in the application. You pay it by Visa or Mastercard, and it is not returned if the visa is refused. A standard e-visa is issued within three working days, an urgent one within three hours. It is missing from the totals because it depends on your passport, and some nationalities do not need a visa at all.

How the columns add up. Ten metro rides is our own assumption for a week of moving around Baku — swap in your count at ₼0.60 a ride. The Sheki Khan's Palace publishes only a range, ₼1–15 by visitor category, so we counted the top of it, ₼15; Ateshgah and Yanardag, also ₼1–15 each, are counted through their ₼25 combined ticket. For Sheki we took the Baku–Sheki fare twice, at the top of its range; the ticket back is bought at the Sheki end. The first column leaves out the trip to Ateshgah and Yanardag themselves: a city bus or a taxi covers it, and a ride-hailing app shows the fare before you confirm — taxi in Baku explains how that fare is set. In the tour columns, look at each tour page to see which entry tickets are included, and take those off. Buses and trains to the regions, with journey times, are laid out in Baku to the regions by train and bus.

Buying the BakıKart, topping it up and paying at the turnstile are covered step by step in our guide to the Baku metro.

Where a tour changes the sum

Our group departures are sold per seat and take up to 18 people; most of them meet at 1 Azerbaijan Avenue, and the guides speak English and Russian. A private trip is priced for the whole party, so run the numbers for your own group before choosing: the two-day Ganja trip costs ₼630 for four travellers together, ₼157.50 each. On a private trip, hotel pickup is often possible if agreed in advance. You can cancel without charge until 24 hours before a day trip, or 72 hours before a multi-day route. The tour prices here are the ones the booking form charges; all our day trips are compared side by side in what a day trip from Baku costs.

Before fixing the dates, look at Azerbaijan's public holidays: on non-working holidays government offices and most businesses are closed.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a week in Azerbaijan cost without hotels and food?

From official prices, about ₼137 per person if you travel on your own by metro and bus, about ₼213 with three guided day trips, and about ₼275 with a three-day group route. These cover city transport, the main entry tickets and the trips, not the visa, the hotel or meals.

How much is the Maiden Tower ticket for foreigners?

₼19 for a foreign adult and ₼9 for a foreign child aged 5–17, according to the Icherisheher Reserve. The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is ₼24 for a foreign adult. Both are open every day from 10:00 to 19:00.

Is there one ticket for Ateshgah and Yanardag?

Yes. The Reserve Management Center sells a combined ticket for ₼25, while a ticket for each site on its own costs ₼1–15, depending on the visitor category.

How much is the Azerbaijan e-visa?

The official portal evisa.gov.az shows the fee during the application, which depends on your passport. It is paid by Visa or Mastercard and is not refunded if the visa is refused; a standard e-visa takes up to three working days, an urgent one up to three hours.

Prices read on 5 October 2026 (intercity bus fares on 4 and 5 October 2026) on bakikart.az, metro.gov.az, avtovagzal.az, ticket.ady.az, icherisheher.gov.az, heydaraliyevcenter.az, heritage.org.az, shahdag.az and evisa.gov.az. Our own prices are the ones the booking form charges. Prices change; the operator's own site always has the final word.
