Who we want to hear from
Drivers, guides, cooks, foresters, teachers — anyone who knows a place in Azerbaijan because they live there rather than because they read about it. If you can tell us something about a village, a road or a dish that a visitor could not work out in an afternoon, we would like to publish you.
This is not for content agencies and it is not a way to place a link. The terms below are not negotiable, so read them before you write to us.
The terms, plainly
- There is no fee. Nobody is paid for these pieces, ourselves included. We are not going to dress that up as an opportunity.
- No links to your own site or business — not in the article, not in the byline. If the link is the reason you are writing, stop here.
- First hand only. Somewhere you have been, work you have done, food you have cooked. Not a rearrangement of what is already online.
- We edit, and we check. Prices, distances, opening hours and directions get verified. What we cannot verify comes out.
- The credit is yours. Your name on the piece, your photograph and a short biography on your own author page.
What actually gets published
One test decides it: is there something in the piece that only somebody who was there could have written? Which of the two entrances the buses really use. The hour when the light is worth waiting for. The road that is worse than the map admits. What the dish is called by the people who make it.
Length does not decide it. Eight hundred honest words about one valley beat three thousand assembled out of other people's articles.
How to propose one
Write to us with three things: the place you want to cover, your connection to it, and one specific detail about it that is not in the guidebooks. That third one tells us more than a CV would.
